Roger Federer won his 16th Grandslam today beating Andy Murray in finals of Australian Open.  He again his bettered his record of maximum number of grandslams won. It capped a remarkable turnaround by Roger Federer in last one year. Last year at the same time Roger was beaten Rafal Nadal in Australian Open final. Roger is used to weeping at award ceremonies after winning his grandslams. He even wept today after winning Australian Open. But the last year was very different he was weeping for he could not bring his A game to the finals. He had been already beaten by Rafal Nadal in French and Wimbeldon finals. Rafal Nadal was the number one. He had seized number 1 ranking from Roger Federer. And Federer was on the downhill.
was downhill. Most of the critics said Roger would not win a slam again.  
      But since then Roger Federer and Rafal Nadal destinies had changed. Rafal Nadal became injured after loosing in quarter finals of French Open. And Roger Federer already a 3 times runner up at French seized his chance to win the French Open. That win also completed his career granslam i.e he became the second person in open era to win all the four slams atleast once. And he also got ahead of Samprass in terms of number of granslams won as French was his 14th grandslam. This silenced Greatest of All Time debate in tennis critics who were debating whether Samprass was better than Federer.  As Samprass never went past semifinals in French.
    And if this was not enough Roger went to win Wimbeldon in an epic final against Andy Roddick. The scoreline read 5-7 7-6 7-6 3-6 16-14.  He also married his long time girlfriend. And become father of twins. As he admitts he now plays 
with lot more mental freedom and confidence. He has now reached 8 consecutive grandslam finals in a row. He has also now reached now 23 consecutive grandslam semifinals in a row. On the other hand Rafal Nadal is still struggling with injury. He retired in Australian Open quarter final with an injury.  He has also slipped to 4th in world rankings. Surely things cannot be more different than last year
