Society and Religion

I have been wondering in recent times on concept of society and religion. What is society. What is need of society. Why societies were formed. How religion were formed. What was their purpose.

Man was a hunter. He used to hunt animals and feed on them. He soon realized that when he hunts in group he can bring down animals much bigger than him. So first groups were formed. Not like a proper society with proper rules and regulation. But man used to clash for food and woman. There were clashes, betrayals. Then society was formed to control persons in the society. Then man discovered farming. Society got bigger. As the society evolved. Each person took more specialized tasks. And he become more dependent on society.

Society took sense of identity from the man. There were inequities in divisions of power. There were inquities in division of wealth. That's when religion came up. When question arose what is right or wrong. Religion developed as a need for man's desire for enlightenement. Its purpose was to find the laws that should govern individuals. So they can contribute to society.
