Theory of Selection

I was just wondering about problem of forming groups. I tried to compare it to recruitment and selection policy of companies and things started to unravel for me. First let me define the problem that i was thinking of how do we form a groups for a particular course or say competition like Mahindra war room. First one clarification objective of forming groups is maximizing the output of the group not minimizing the amount of input required for one individual. The best way to form a group is of course is among your friends, who share the same interests as you. That way one member of the group can always understand the other is facing in doing work and can step up to fill up the need. But what if you are embarking on new goal or venture and need to form a group for that. Where the work required from the group is huge but the work is rewarded only when you produce the best work. In such a situation there are three kinds of people: (1) People who desperately want to win the thing or ac...

Fundamental question of life

I have been reading lot of books now. I keep observing things in life and note down them in a notebook. I also keep noting down in a notebook the a few of the principles of life that I intend to follow. But all comes down to a fundamental question in life. How do I know intention of other people before I respond to them? Since most of the time we interact with other people in life. It all comes down to this fundamental question. I have devised a few of the principles that I use for this fundamental question: 1) Small things done unconsciously are more important than large things done : If we want true feelings of people small things done unconsciously are much more important indicator than large things because a. Small things can be observed easily b. People are too conscious of getting caught in big things 2) People want to maximize, utility of life called happiness. And there is derivation of this simple rule. Since no want to believe himself to be evil there is always positi...

The White Tiger

I normally don't read non -fiction books. I thought white tiger was a non fiction novel because it won the booker prize in 2009. And man was i mistaken. I found white tiger to a page turner you simply can't put down. The book is small with 193 pages it can be finished in a single read. The book tells the story of Balram Halwai and how he became entrepreneur from a common youth in a village. Sometimes i felt that book won booker prizer simply because like slumdog millionaire it exposed the indian poor. Surely i felt that book exaggerated the disparities in indian society at several places. But this is what it is, it is a work of fiction. And i think that story is not completely untrue at all. After reading the book i felt that i understood why there is so wide disparity in treatments to our servants at my home. Though we don't belong to a zameendar or any such caste that oppresses people. Both my maternal and paternal grandfather had made it big in their times. My paternal g...
