Cricket a selfish game

I was thinking that cricket is a selfish game. Why a player who plays poorly gets to do only fielding. If he bats, he gets out early and if he bowls then he concedes run. So he gets to do only fielding. But from perspective of poor player, he does not get any experience and he does not get any fun.
