BCCI, IPL and ICCI
I have been watching IPL matches at home. And it is simply very good. The 20-20 format is the format which can take the cricket to the world. It is short about the size of a movie. You can watch the game whenever you have free time. Rather to watch one-day game you have to take vacation from office and watching test cricket is out of question for busy people. Of course test cricket and one day cricket have their merits. Test cricket tests the cricketer. It is not only test of skills but also test of endurance. But what is one day cricket. It is mixed test of both. It neither tests skills properly nor it test endurance properly. Batsman can neither hit cricket ball freely always fearing that he can get out. And if he goes the distance then it becomes test of endurance. So 20-20 has made one day cricket obsolete. And cricket administrators do realize this. But ICC is allowing BCCI to make money from IPL, while it is organizing its one day tournaments. And BCCI is organizing IPL which though good is a second rate farce because of limit of 4 foreign player. A tournament where Glenn Mcgrath has to sit out of the whole tournament cannot claim itself to be international tournament.
