Twenty Twenty Cricket

There are two major stakeholders in game of cricket: players and spectators. The players want to earn more money and spectators want to have more fun. Its no rocket science that more people come to watch twenty twenty games than test match or one day cricket. And further it is indisputable that players do earn more money playing in twenty twenty leagues. But sadly the minor stake holders: cricket purists/ commentator, old players and administration of cricket boards do take decisions. Old players don't want to admitt that some thing is better than what they did throughout their life. And administration is in hands of people like Sharad Pawar.

Crisil

It has been now more than 7 months since i joined Crisil. It has been quite an experience. I am handling one of the biggest projects in my department. In this relatively short period of time i have written around 70 reports. I have  travelled to 7 cities during this period: Bangalore, Patna, Ranchi, Delhi, Shimla, Lucknow and Kolkata. My job involves lot of reading, writing and analysis which has been like bread and butter to me throughout my life. Its like living your childhood dream. Ever since childhood i have been very curious in nature. I am always interested knowing and understanding things. So this job is like quite an ideal job for an introvert like me. But besides the usual routine of reading, analysis and writing, i also have to meet up with a lot of people for my project. My project scope covered almost of India. So in this period i have interacted with people from Arunachal Pradesh to Jammu and Kashmir. The number of people i have talked up with during these past 7 mon...

Limit of happiness

" Money can't buy happiness". This is an old proverb that everyone knows. But living in Mumbai one realizes that there are so many things that money cannot buy. But people with money are also unhappy. So how is money related to happiness. I believe that lower bound of happiness is function of money that you have and upper bound of happiness is also function of money that you have. If everything is going wrong in life even then with the help of money you can achieve certain happiness. And if you feeling very happy and ecstatic, even then there are certain things you cannot do due to constraint of money.

Sehwag

I was wondering if Sehwag had got out around the score of 150 or if Sammy had taken the catch when he was at 170, would we still be asking Sehwag why this Kolaveri Da. India would have still won the match. Contribution of Sehwag towards Indian cricket would still have been the same. The chances of Sehwag performing in later matches would have still be the same.  I doubt that Sehwag himself thinks about any record.

AMRI Hospital

Yesterday a very bad tragedy occurred in West Bengal. 90 people perished in fire in AMRI hospital of Kolkata. But what has followed after the tragedy, i find more appalling and indicative of extent of rot within our system. The fire was accidental and lessons need to be taken to ensure such incidents are not repeated in Kolkata, West Bengal or anywhere in the country. But only thing that has been done is that board of directors of the hospital had been sent to jail on charges of culpable homicide. This is simply ridiculous that directly board of directors of the hospital who do not manage day to day functioning of the hospital, have been arrested. But what makes it pathetic is the fact that this hospital was supported by the Left party. Jyoti Basu breathed his last in this hospital only. Mamta Banerjee has leveraged even this tragedy to seek vendetta against left loyalist. Just like he used maoists and Tata Nano issue for her personal gains. People of Bengal rise up a sick idiot rulin...
