Modi election victory

Narendra Modi won the elections with a huge mandate.  In his victory speech, he spoke about the misuse of term secularism and caste for vote bank politics.  He said from there on there will be only two castes. One will be those who are poor and other who will work to eradicate poverty. 

 I was thinking about this meaning of caste based parties in India. Most of these cater to one or more caste groups but what made these politicians leaders of their respective caste groups was not only their caste identity. For example  Lalu Prasad Yadav has been a very popular leader in Bihar but what made him a popular leader in Bihar was not only his caste identity but his natural Charisma and oratorical skills.

Many of such leaders like Lalu Yadav and Mulayam Singh Yadav are fading away. Their party is being controlled by their heirs. Then it is wrong to presume that caste groups which supported one party will keep supporting that party.
