  Humans have evolved from apes millions of years ago. But our species of homo sapiens evolved only 100-200 thousand years back in Africa.  At that time they were several other species of humans but all were extinguished around the same time when homo sapiens migrated out of Africa to rest of the world. This seems like a lot of time but our earth is 4.5 billion year old. If humans evolution happened one second ago then universe would had been created 40 hours ago.  So for nature, our evolution and progress has happened in a blink of an eye. In blink of eye we have evolved from stone hurling apes to inter planetary species. Almost every species on earth is older than us.    Dinosaurs ruled the earth for the nearly 150 million years. The art of learning

I have  finished reading the art of learning by joshua waitkin.  He is national chess champion of usa and world champion in martial arts. In his book he shares his journey of learning to win those championship. He also gives lessons on how to learn.  He gave following recommendations for improving learning for a task that you want to improve upon Full concentration when you are doing the task.  Deliberate practice:  working on task with intent to improve not for  mindlessly spending time on task Breaking the task into smaller sub tasks. Learn from simplest sub tasks and proceed into more complicated tasks Analyse your performance in task. Learn from your mistakes. Mindset of learning. Try to compete against better players instead of avoiding losses. Enjoy learning. Learn winning from basics. Avoid learning cheap tricks. Learn from games of best players.
