Good vs Bad

The fight between good and evil has been main story line of numerous films. The superiority of good over evil is the basic tenets of all the religions of the world. Yet almost no-one believes in this. Everyone i have met, believes that evil is better than good. But why is this so. Its because everyday and every moment where we see, we find that people who use bad methods do succeed. Its the corrupt politicians who rule us. Every child sees that without giving bribe no work gets done in the country. The results of good work are hard to come by but when they do come they are always more than results of bad work. Bad work gives immediate gains. This disillusions people into believing that bad wins over good, because also it is hard to see the results of good work. There is one other reason there is lack of belief in good work. Let's me illustrate with a simple example : There are 3 students who are attempting a very tough exam say upsc. Mahatma Gandhi - the leader of the nation

I have read the auto biography of mahatma gandhi. I have found his autobiography to be very inspiring and candid. But recently i have been reading Indian history. And i cannot help but wonder how much the contribution of Mahatma Gandhi has been to Indian independence struggle. Following are some of the facts that strike me : 1) In the recent Kashmir violence, 100's of civilians were killed in their so called non violent protests. Though there can be debate on the point that whether the protests were non violent but one thing for sure, no person from police or army died in these protests 2) Barring Chauri- Chaura kand and jallianwala bagh incidents, Indian independence struggle was so peaceful that it was amusing. 3) All the major non violent movements were launched against the british when the government was the weakest.
