Google Chrome

Recently Google has announced launch of its own operating system. It is going to be open source , lightweight operating system designed for an era where computing tasks are increasingly being done online. It will consist of lightweight linux kernel optimised for internet usage. Google claims Operating systems were designed in an era when there was no web. While Google chrome is going to be designed for online applications. There will be minimal user interface . The whole objective of the operating system will be to boot up fast and connect you to net ,keeping the viruses and malware out of the system. The most distinguishing feature of Chrome is going to be " It is going to revolutionize the way we use our PC and Web ". There should be doubt in anyone's mind that it will be fundamentally different than even concept of operating system. Google has grown so tremendously in recent years that it has changed the web is being done. It has a big very large cluster of compute...

Windows Vista

Microsoft launched Vista on January 30, 2007. It contained major changes compared to Windows XP. It contains updated graphical interface, contains new applications like Windows photo gallery. It contains improved security features. It contains new designed windows shell. It contains new version of Direct X which vastly improves gaming experience. It also include dramatically changed application programming interface. In a nutshell Vista is dramatically improved from Windows XP. But this is where the catch lie. Though Microsoft dramatically improved the operating system, the RAM requirement of OS swelled up. Where XP used to run with computers having 128 MB of RAM. Vista would be uncomfortable with even 1 GB. It needs minimum 2 GB of RAM to operate comfortably. So, Vista was greeted with very harsh criticism at the time of reception. Reception of Vista was very poor. There were reports of Vista users downgrading their operating system and busine...

Acads at IIM I

Our PGP program at IIM Indore consists of 6 trimesters, with 3 trimester, each across 2 years. Study here is most different from an engineering college in the concept of study group. Our whole class is divided into study groups of five. This study group is fixed for whole year in all the courses. In every course there is atleast 20% of group component. In first term we have these following courses 1) Managerial Accounting Control: We are supposed to learn whole of accounting in this course. I feel this is the toughest course of our 1st term. Our Professor started the first class with Balance Sheet. People who study commerce first study 4 types of account to help make the final balance sheet. 2) Managerial Oral Communication: In this course as obvious from the name most of the weight-age is on presentation. And the presentation can be group presentation or individual presentation. I am finding this course to be most difficult as i am bad in presentation skills. 3) Written A...

When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it

CAT is proclaimed as one of the toughest exams in the world. People who reach the interview stage of selection process of IIM have belled the CAT. I now being the student of IIM and also alumunus of IIT Madras. I do have better insight than most people on what kind of creatures study in these mysterious colleges. For all the people in these instutes perhaps the above Paul Coelho statement applies. What is the common charcterstics that is common among these people. From what i have seen, i believe most of the people who reach eithe IIT or IIM are those who can be classified as cool. Most of the people are not very hardworking. So my advice to all those people who blame the system, or anything else will be to give your best in whatever job you are doing. CAT is like old wine older it is better it is. And if you do your work as hard as the amout of preparation you will have to put in preparing for CAT and then finallly in 2 years of your jon. You certainl

Rau

IIM Indore is situated on a hillock, situated very far away from the city. Its also relatively new compared to life span of other iim's. So for buying most of the item you have to go outside of the campus. There are 2 places where you can go. You can go either to Indore city or the nearby small town Rau. Institute provides regular bus service for going and coming back for both these places. Yesterday I went to Rau for buying lot of things. My general impression as formed by hearing other people was that Rau doesn't have a big market. I needed to buy lot of things, which i had been delaying . So, when i reached Rau and found a very large market, i was very pleasantly surprised. I bought lot of things yesterday. I must say market at Rau mostly consisted of street vendors. But there were lot of them. And you name a thing they had the thing.

Talent- nite

Yesterday talent -nite was organised in IIM Indore. It was competition between 4 sections of pgp 1st year. Every section got 45 minutes of stage time. Basically you can do whatever you can on the stage but you get points for entertaining the audience. People came up with lot of innovative ideas. My section came up with drama named Maha-d. It was modern adaptation of Mahabharat. One section came up with amazing idea of vision of IIM Indore in 2020. Basically there were lot of jokes on ipc 377. There were some good solo performance also. There are some good guitarist in our batch. Finally our section came in 3rd. A section, the defending champions again captured th title.
